by BlackSwan of Memphis inhow did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?

What Swan said bears repeating. It's hilarious: "And for a spirit creature, he is awfully preoccupied with human sexuality and the aroma of burning meat and fat upon an altar." I wonder if he also attends weight watchers mtgs?

Yes, an insecure 4-yr-old human. "I won't be your friend if you don't ..."

God doesn't need a "witness" for or against him, if he is all that most religious people claim. And there seems to be a lot of witnessing about it all over the world, so, he must not really be "all that." You know, a god with almighty knowledge, power and such.
Religious people I know usually say they believe that evil exists, too, while at the same time making the completely illogical claim that god is:
- omniscient
- all-loving AND
- all-powerful.
From a strictly logical standpoint, one of those criteria for belief in god's existence has to be a lie, if evil really does exist. Hence, I certainly can't accept the existence of such a god, nor of any god, except in the fairytale lands of metaphysics (and leprechauns). -

I'm not quite sure I fully understand the discussion here. If I check out that website (for sock puppets), will I get juiced or zapped or something? What do the sock puppets do?

Emotional and philosophical issues like all of the above-mentioned got me to leave the bOrg at age 15. Intellect and education keeps me away from it. For a while in my young adulthood, I was fascinated with metaphysics and researched it a bit; came to the same conclusion as other atheists: man made god in his/her own image, not the reverse. I am a die-hard atheist now.

It's healthy to acknowledge that anger; honor it, but don't wallow in it. If you have serious trouble letting it go and really feel you must act on the desire for someone to be dead, it would be good to talk with a professional about it who can help with the anger management.

by pat1 inhi every one i am not sure if i am posting in the right place or not but just wanted to say a quick hello.
i am a disfellowshiped (ex brother of 27 years), they did this to me nearly eight years ago after forming a commitee with two lying elders (one decent) who didn'nt like my father who was the presiding overseer at the time and stand in circut overseer.
i was married for six years at the age of 19 and when i decided to have a break from her it all hit the fan and the lies started about me.
